Wasabi

 

Perhaps the most prized crop in all of Japan, the cultivation of wasabi is a complicated and closely guarded secret. The best roots grows in clear mountain streams and produce a wonderfully complex, mustard/horseradish flavor. Just add water to this powder to make the traditional spicy paste for sushi or dust snacks and nuts for added heat.
